Carol Ferguson was formerly a Business Analyst as well as a Computer Programmer and also has many years of experience providing frontline support to people experiencing difficulty. This makes her an ideal choice to help children and assess where it is their difficulty lies. With a strong academic background as well, Carol describes herself as someone who has the skills of “listening, understanding, empathy, analysis, and explanation”.
Alloa born and bred, with children and grandchildren of her own, as well as close family members working in education, Carol explains what attracted her to MagiKats,
“Firstly, I’m looking forward to making a difference to the children of Clackmannanshire. I was looking for a change and actively sought out MagiKats as I wanted to move into either Adult Literacy or working with schoolchildren. I’ve spent years behind a desk and felt it was time for me to do something a bit more worthwhile.
“When I came across MagiKats, I was drawn to the teaching model and ethos… I’ve been very impressed with the unique dual approach and individual learning plans provided by MagiKats, combined with the small groups affording one to one contact without a child feeling under the spotlight. All the material is prepared by education professionals and the method is tried, tested, and proved. There’s also practical and expert support from head office.”
In the past, Carol was one of the parents responsible for setting up Sunnyside Youth and as a teenager she was a founder member of Youth in Touch, so, she explains, returning to working with young people in the area feels like a natural choice.
The new Clackmannanshire MagiKats tuition centre is in Lime Tree House, North Castle Street, Alloa and Carol is looking forward to welcoming students and parents alike.
