The health and wellbeing of young people is of upmost importance to a national theatre school franchise, which is why they were delighted to welcome the NSPCC at the two regional meetings held in the North and South of the country on October 12th and 13th.

Razzamataz Theatre Schools have been working alongside the NSPCC so they can deliver Level 1 and 2 Safeguarding at the Regional meetings, so all theatre school Principals that attend, will be fully up to speed with the latest developments.

“Child protection must be rigorous in all theatre schools and we are delighted that we are working with the NSPCC to train our Principals so they can provide a safe and happy environment for the children who come to train with them each week,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “In this area, there can be no excuses for getting it wrong so we are grateful to work with the experts to have as much knowledge and guidance into best practice as possible.”

During the course, Principals were shown examples of how and where young people could be potentially at risk and how important the theatre school’s staff and Principal can be in helping to protect children and keep them safe.

“The training with the NSPCC was really informative and I am very proud to say that we have trained with the guidance of the NSPCC to our parents,” says Emma Louise Campbell, Principal of Razzamataz Cambridge. “There are some very exciting developments happening in the network especially around the new database technology. It was great to have an initial insight into this and an opportunity to express our thoughts.”

As well as the Safeguarding course, the theatre school franchise was delighted to reward franchisees with a number of incentives that were achieved through good practice.

“We are delighted to announce that after two years of implementing our ‘traffic light’ system audit scheme, 100% of our network scored a complete green annual audit,” says Denise. “All franchisees now receive a ‘Back To School’ marketing reward as a thank you from Head Office, only one of our many incentive schemes.”

Other schemes include reaching a milestone in student numbers to receive a reward such as a high tea or spa day. The Head Office is now preparing for the Annual Conference and Awards, which is another opportunity to reward the hard working theatre school franchisees.
